Visit from Buffalo Gramma!

This weekend, gramma came to visit me, and she got to play with me and my toys.  We also sang karaoke and went to eat shabu-shabu, which is one of her favorte Japanese foods.  Oh, and we also ate fish and chips at this place called 'A Salt and Battery' - their mushy peas were splendid!

Foodie Experiences

We recently went to a few restaurants and I wanted to post my early foodie findings:

Japanese-style hamburger dish at a Korean owned restaurant in Fort Lee, NJ called Prime & Beyond Meat House. They were featured on a show on the Food Network in October 2010, called Meat & Potatoes. I didn't see the episode, but I can confidently say that the Kobe beef burger was delish!!

Special fish of the day at our favorite Japanese restaurant, Ichiban, in Hackensack, NJ. Yummy!!

Majestic Diner, Westbury, NY; Daddy was a little disappointed that the ham in the french toast and ham special was a 'little small'. I helped him out with the french toast though! Can you believe they charged over $10 for this though? Crazy!!

EE-TIE!!!

I have recently learned a new Japanese word, 'itai' pronounced very dramatically, as EE-TAI!! This word is equivalent to the English word, 'Ouch'. I have learned to scream this word whenever the inner drama queen comes out in me, even though I'm not in any pain. I also yell out this word when I pull someone's hair or scratch them for fun. In other words I express the feeling of pain for them, haha! It usually gets me alot of attention, so I go with it. Mommy and daddy on the other hand, are not too pleased when I decide to say this in public, especially when we are around other Japanese people. What can I say, I like to create a buzz.

New Developments

Guess what everybody?!  I can now put on my own pants!!  I have been practicing the past couple of weeks and have finally mastered the task.  I am so proud of myself!!

I also love to say the word 'cookie', and I ask for them as often as possible.  I have also recently been saying the words 'juice', 'good' 'milk' and 'egg'.  Mommy likes it when I repeat words that she's talking about, so sometimes I throw her a bone and say them.

Fun For All - Port Jefferson, NY

This was by far, the absolute best play space that I have been to! Over a half-acre of equipment to climb, jump, hang and slide on. And, at only $6 to play all day long, it is the best deal. The only downside is that it is an hour and a half away from home. :( It just happens to be between two outlet malls however, so I may be able to convince mommy and daddy to take me again if they head out in that direction for shopping sometime. Fingers crossed!

Rockefeller Park Playground - Battery Park City

Today we went to check out one of the best playgrounds in the city, Rockefeller Park in Battery Park City.  I think this was one of the most challenging play areas so far.  While alot of the equipment was for older kids, with a little help from mommy and daddy, I was able to try out pretty much everything.  I think we have some more pictures on our other camera, so we'll have to upload those later.

Field House - Chelsea Piers

In my mommy's quest to try out all of the play spaces in New York City and the surrounding area, today, we went to check out another indoor playground at Chelsea Piers.  This place was a lot of fun and different than the other places so far, because they have a ball pit.  I loved to go swimming in the multi-colored ball pit, and climbing on all of the equipment! When I get little bigger, I heard that I can start taking soccer lessons here too. They even have gymnastics classes and have been known to produce Olympic athletes right here at this very spot. Imagine that!

Hina-matsuri (Girl's Day)

The Hina Matsuri or Doll Festival or Girl's Festival is celebrated on March 3. On this day, families with girls wish their daughters a successful and happy life. Dolls are displayed in the house together with peach blossoms. The doll festival has its origin in a Chinese custom in which bad fortune is transferred to dolls and then removed by abandoning the doll on a river.

This is me, next to the Hina dolls that grandma and grandpa in Japan gave to me so that I can celebrate this holiday every year! As you can see, I got dressed up for the occassion. I also did a little song and dance on my trampoline, to some traditional Hina-matsuri music. Daddy took a video of it, so maybe he can help me upload it for you all to see.
